Snow in Texas

I'm sure last week's snowfall is making many a Texas blog. This whole area got a pretty good covering of snow one morning, stayed long enough for us to play in it, and then was gone. Senya had just recently experienced snow for the first time in Ohio when we visited in December and was eager to try it out again. Ivan had mixed feelings...when he was standing up, he loved it; when he fell, he hated it. Who can blame him? That pretty much describes my feelings about snow too. It was oh so pretty to watch from inside, but I'm also glad I had kids to encourage me to get outside and throw snowballs and make tracks in the snow.

One of the first things Senya wanted to try was to eat the snow. We quickly laid the ground rules for that (i.e. skimming off the top only, no yellow snow, etc.) Then she wanted to reenact a scene from the children's book "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" where a boy catches soup and juice in his umbrella to eat.

Senya discovered the snow covered hula hoop on our back deck.
(Yes, just a few days prior we were outside hula hooping.)

Loving it...

Not so much...

  1. Gah! They're so cute and so is the picture of the model. Ivan's walking already! I missed it. This isn't Senya's first glimpse of snow, is it? Darn, I was hoping it wasn't so she'd be very surprized when she got to Canada. Alicia says she has strawberry blonde hair, what kind of blonde hair does Senya have? I don't know if I'm a chestnut brunette or what.
